Have you ever done something creative that felt natural; like you were born to do it? |
That's how I feel! I LOVE being a makeup artist!
Since a very early age I have been surrounded by beauty; gardens, art, crafts, beautiful men and women...and a sister who is a model! I have always been artistic. Throughout my time at boarding school (Frensham in NSW's Southern Highlands) I would give my friends makeovers or facials - some girls still remind me of the times I'd do their makeup for school dances or social outings! I never thought it would become a career (although in my final year book my peers said that I would open a salon in Double Bay!). Prior to the HSC starting, I was told I had won a creative scholarship to study photography at KvB in North Sydney...I was going to be a Photographer! Photography lead me to work in Hawaii. I would often feel frustrated at the Makeup Artists choice of foundation, eyeshadow, blush or lipstick colour and would pull out my box of tricks and correct their work! With encouragement from colleagues, clients and several other Makeup Artists, I decided to switch careers and become a Makeup Artist. I still love photography but makeup is my true passion. It comes naturally. I've worked with women and men of all ages and skin tones, well known celebrities, actresses and models plus some amazing photographers, stylists and hairstylists. I've built a business I'm very proud of with regular clients and made some wonderful friendships along the way! |
